What is Restylane?
The Restylane® line of products from Galderma is specially formulated to act like your body’s own naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, restoring volume to your skin. With more than 30 million treatments worldwide and counting, this popular line of fillers provides natural-looking results.
FAQs about Restylane Products
To ensure a safe procedure, your Riverchase provider will talk to you about your medical history to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for treatment. You should not use products within the Restylane family if:
- You have severe allergies with a history of severe reactions (anaphylaxis)
- You are allergic to lidocaine or to any of the gram-positive bacterial proteins used to make hyaluronic acid
- You are prone to bleeding or have been diagnosed with a bleeding disorder
As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection. The most common side effects include injection-related reactions such as swelling, bruising, redness, pain, tenderness, lump formation, itching at the injection site, and impaired hand function. These effects generally disappear within one week after injection. Other potential side effects can occur. You should discuss the potential treatment risks with your healthcare professional.
One of the risks with using this product is unintentional injection into a blood vessel. The chances of this happening are very small, but if it does happen, the complications can be serious and may be permanent. These complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs or permanent scarring of the skin.
What to Expect
Some people may experience mild discomfort during the treatment. Many Restylane products contain an integrated local anesthetic, lidocaine, to provide you with a more comfortable treatment experience. You and your Riverchase provider can decide whether additional pain relief is needed.
Your doctor will cleanse and prepare the area(s) to be treated. The clear gel in the Restylane family of products is injected into the treatment area(s) using an ultra-fine needle to create the desired aesthetic effect. After injection, he/she may gently massage the treated area.
A treatment with Restylane doesn’t usually take long. A touch-up treatment is sometimes performed after the initial treatment to optimize your results. Talk to your healthcare professional to learn more about the treatment procedure.
After your initial treatment, you can refresh your look with a follow-up treatment, as determined by your healthcare professional. Additional treatments can help refresh the immediate results of your initial treatment.

Restylane
Restylane is a clear gel hyaluronic acid filler normally used to help add volume to lips and contour them, but it is also frequently used to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, smile lines, marionette lines, superficial lines around the mouth and crow’s feet. It can also be used to add volume under and around the eyes. Additionally, Restylane and Restylane Silk are FDA-approved for lip enhancement in patients over the age of 21, and are uniquely formulated to give your lips fullness and definition.
Restylane and Restylane-L are the only FDA-approved products for lip enhancement in patients over 21 years, and are uniquely formulated to give your lips fullness and definition. Restylane is injected into the mid to deep facial tissue to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.
Results: Restylane is the world’s best-selling dermal filler. It is well tolerated, nonsurgical and long lasting (usually around six months). In a clinical study of subjects treated with Restylane, blinded evaluators reported still seeing improvement in 95% of subjects 18 months after initial injection. (Subjects were retreated at 4.5 and/or 9 months.)
Restylane Defyne + Restylane Refyne
As we age, our skin loses elasticity and the lines that run from the sides of the nose toward the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds) and the lines that run from the corner of your mouth toward the chin (marionette lines) become more pronounced. Restylane® Defyne and Restylane® Refyne are crafted with XpresHAn Technology™ to correct these deepened lines.
The unique cross-linking of the gel in Restylane Defyne and Restylane Refyne are designed to help support your facial expressions for natural-looking results and natural movement. They are the only fillers on the market that have been shown in a clinical study to help maintain movement and expressions.
Restylane Defyne and Restylane Refyne are injected into the mid to deep facial tissue to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. + Results … In a clinical study, subjects were evaluated based on the perception of the naturalness of facial expressions in motion after one month of Restylane® Defyne and Restylane® Refyne optimal treatment. As a result, 97% were satisfied with their treatment results and would do the treatment again, and 95% would recommend the products to a friend.
Restylane Lyft
Over time, the natural fat begins to deteriorate, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles and a reduction of volume. Restylane® Lyft, formerly known as Perlane-L®, is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face and hands. Through non-surgical injections, Restylane Lyft is designed to add fullness to the cheeks, midface area, and the backs of the hands, creating a more natural-looking, youthful appearance.
Restylane Lyft is injected into the skin to restore volume and correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds, also known as smile lines).
The effects of Restylane Lyft generally last about six months as it gradually disappears from the body.
Restylane Silk
Restylane® Silk lip enhancer is a refined smooth gel formulation that creates subtle, natural-looking results. Specifically designed for precise lip definition and line control, Restylane Silk brings a higher level of artistry to your result with a unique silky smooth formulation of hyaluronic acid allowing for a natural shape.
The lips and the lines around the mouth, like other areas of the face, show signs of aging as you get older. This often results in lip thinning, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines above the lip. Restylane Silk is designed specifically to provide natural-looking results in these particular areas by using smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles than those used in other Restylane products.
Results: In a clinical study, subjects were treated with Restylane Silk or no treatment, the subjects reported visible improvement in their lip fullness. As a result of the study, 98% of participants reported visible improvement in lip fullness 14 days after injection, and 77% reported visible improvement in lip fullness six months after injection for treatments to upper and lower lips.
