Even people who have been successful in losing weight often struggle with isolated “problem areas” of fat, which do not respond to diet and exercise. Ultrashape® is an easy, comfortable, and effective procedure that uses a sound wave to permanently destroy subcutaneous fat cells and reduce overall circumference.

Using ultrasound energy, UltraShape® is able to target fat cells, destroying them instantly, so patients can see visible results within two weeks. Because the ultrasound energy is pulsed and focused, UltraShape® is able to target the fat cells mechanically, without

heating them and without damaging surrounding tissue. The soundwave targets only the fat cells, leaving the surrounding tissue, blood vessels, and nerve endings completely unharmed, and leaving no marks on the skin. The designated area is treated only once, ensuring a complete and uniform treatment.

First, the fat is isolated using elastic straps or tape, then the treatment area is 3D mapped with an imaging system. Ultrasound gel is then applied to the treatment area and the Ultrashape® handpiece is moved over the area with a series of repetitive pulses that are delivered in a gentle, warm, even relaxing way. Using the 3-D map, the device locates unwanted fat cells and targets them with ultrasonic energy. As the energy moves through the fat cells, they implode and die. Over the weeks following treatment, the body will gradually eliminate the destroyed fat cells, contouring and reducing the overall fat in the treated area. Because the process is gradual, the skin has an opportunity to retract gradually, as it would during normal weight loss. Each Ultrashape® session lasts about 30 minutes per area to be treated.

The treatment destroys fat cells in a quick, easy, and non-invasive procedure using a focused, pulsed soundwave. Once the fat cell membranes are disrupted, the content of the cells is transported through the vascular and lymphatic systems to the liver. The fat is then processed via the body’s natural mechanisms.

The treatment plan is customized to fit each patient’s needs. Following the procedure, the body gradually breaks down and eliminates unwanted fat, reducing circumference and improving overall body contour.

Because Ultrashape® is a non-invasive procedure, there is no real recovery time associated with the treatments. There are no activity restrictions once the treatment is complete, and patients can typically get back to normal activities right away. In fact, exercise is recommended after the treatment, as it boosts the metabolism. It is also recommended that you drink at least 64 ounces of water daily throughout the treatment time to assist in flushing out the unwanted destroyed fat cells. Maintaining a diet low in fat is also a great way to make the most of the procedure and enhance your results.

Photographs will be taken before your first Ultrashape® treatment and at the start of each treatment so that we can track your results. These photos will only be seen by you and will not be shown to anyone without your permission. Measurements will also be taken at the start of each treatment so that we can record your results in inches as well. Following the complete series of treatments, we will have you come back for a final evaluation about one month after the third treatment. At this time we will take final photos and measurements.

What are the most common treatment areas?
Pockets of fat can occur in many different areas of the body, but there are some common treatment areas that patients request for treatment. As long as there is enough fat in the area, allowing at least about an inch of fat to be pinched, any area can be safely and effectively treated. The common areas include the stomach, hips, love handles, thighs, bra line, arms and knee fat pads.

Is Ultrashape® really painless?
Most patients report a comfortable experience, and side effects are extremely rare. The pulses feel warm with a slight tingling sensation. There are no post-treatment lumps, bumps, soreness or numbness. UltraShape® is also a no-downtime treatment, so you can resume your normal activities right away.

What are the potential Ultrashape® side effects?
Ultrashape® is one of the safest fat reduction techniques available today. Is it possible for the fat to come back?
The fat cells destroyed during Ultrashape® treatments are permanently eliminated. Once destroyed, they can never come back to that area. Patients are encouraged to maintain within 5 to 10 pounds of their weight so that fat does not begin to accumulate in other areas. Most patients are successful at keeping their weight in check post treatment because they are more motivated by their improvement.

How many treatments will I need?
A series of three treatments done between 2 and 4 weeks apart are recommended for optimal results. Spacing treatments gives your body time to clear the fat cells from your system.
