What are Neurotoxins?

Neurotoxins are specific types of neuromodulators that work by blocking nerve signals. Neuromodulators are small proteins that are injected into specific muscles in the face to temporarily weaken the muscle to soften fines lines and wrinkles. There are different types of neuromodulators, such as Botox Cosmetic or Dysport and others. All of these products are similar in action but differ by their protein content.
Dynamic wrinkles are one of three facial rhytids, or wrinkles, caused by repetitive muscle contraction. As we age, our body’s natural collagen and elastin degenerate, ultimately leading to some fine lines and/or deep furrows. While both genetics and lifestyle play a role in the severity of dynamic wrinkles, the repetitive motions of our daily facial expressions take a toll.
Facial neurotoxin results generally occur within a week and can last up to four months. For sweat gland treatment, most people notice an improvement in two to 10 days and the treatments last up to six months.
