About Dr. Florek

Aleksandra Florek, MD, FAAD, is a double board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon who brings a compassionate, patient-centered approach to dermatologic care. Dr. Florek specializes in medical dermatology, cutaneous oncology, and Mohs micrographic surgery, with a strong focus on skin cancer diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Dr. Florek completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Spanish and graduating with distinction. She received her medical degree from the Medical University of Gdańsk in Poland and completed a preliminary internship in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Florek then pursued clinical research fellowships at the University of Colorado and Northwestern University, where she was involved in implementing over 26 clinical trials. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of Colorado and advanced fellowship training at the California Skin Institute, specializing in Mohs micrographic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and dermatologic oncology.

Passionate about all aspects of dermatology, Dr. Florek provides comprehensive care for a wide range of skin conditions, including skin cancer, acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and other medical dermatologic concerns. She is particularly dedicated to the precision and artistry of Mohs surgery, removing skin cancer while preserving healthy tissue and optimizing functional and aesthetic outcomes. She has performed over 5,000 Mohs surgeries (as of November 2025) and has contributed extensively to dermatologic research, authoring multiple peer-reviewed publications and presenting at national and international conferences.

Originally born and raised in Poland and later growing up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Florek values building strong, trusting relationships with her patients. She strives to create a calm and supportive environment where individuals feel heard, informed, and confident in their treatment decisions. She is passionate about skin cancer education and has participated in community outreach programs focused on early detection and prevention.

Outside of work, Dr. Florek enjoys hot yoga, reading, boating, traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending quality time with family and friends. She is fluent in English and Polish and is proficient in Spanish.
