Healthy Skin Tips for the New Year!
TIP 1: WEAR SUNSCREEN
UV rays will always be a culprit to your aging skin, no matter the season we are in. It is important to wear SPF 30 every single day, even if it is cloudy or if they are staying indoors. A significant amount of UV rays can still penetrate through clouds and windows, which can cause premature skin aging and even some cancers.
TIP 2: PERFORM SELF SKIN EXAMS REGULARLY
Skin self-exams can help you catch skin cancer early when it is most treatable. Make checking your skin a regular part of your routine in 2022 regularly performing self-exams at home.
If you notice any spots that are new or changing, or if you have any spots that itch or bleed, be sure to visit a board certified dermatologist. Don’t forget to also schedule your annual skin exam!
TIP 3: DOUBLE CLEANSE
You may think that one wash will get every trace of dirt and makeup off your face, but that is not always the case. When you wash your face in two steps, you are able to remove makeup and impurities thoroughly.
Start with an oil-based cleanser or makeup remover, and follow up with a water based cleanser to leave your skin squeaky clean and ensure no bacteria is left behind!
TIP 4: APPLY MOISTURIZER AFTER CLEANSING
Cleansing your skin is a great start but without moisturizing it directly after, you’re missing a vital skincare step. When you apply moisturizer while your skin is still slightly damp post-cleanse, you’re able to seal in that moisture to help promote all-day hydration.
TIP 5: DRINK WATER
The number one skin tip we cannot stress enough! Drinking water helps your digestive system flush out toxins, which in turn helps improve your complexion! Without adequate water intake, skin can appear dull, and wrinkles and pores can appear more prominent.
Studies have found that drinking enough water every day helps the superficial look of your skin, so don’t miss out on hydration!
