Traditional Treatments
The treatment you receive depends on several factors, including your overall health, the stage of the disease and whether the cancer has spread to the parts of your body. Treatments are often combined and can include the following:
Surgery: the cancer cells are cut out, or excised, and removed.
Mohs Micrographic Surgery: A unique type of surgery that allows surgeons to remove cancerous tissue down to the roots while preserving healthy tissue. Mohs surgery has the highest cure rate of all types of skin cancer treatment, about 95-99%.
Electrodessication and Curettage: Cancerous cells are gently burned and scraped away under local anesthesia
Liquid Nitrogen Therapy: treats cancerous tissue by freezing the affected cells.
Biologic therapy uses newer immune-system modulating drugs that help your body fight the cancer.
DermaBeam Non-Surgical treatment uses a beam of radiation which targets the cancer cells and leaves them unable to multiply. At Riverchase, we use a new and unique device called the Dermabeam. This therapy can be delivered in our Fort Myers office in collaboration with Radiation Oncologists.
