Injectables & Fillers - JUVÉDERM®

What is JUVÉDERM®? Juvéderm® is an injectable filler used by cosmetic dermatologists to restore volume lost in your face from the natural aging process. As we age, our face loses volume and we begin to see facial folds and wrinkles, better know as your smile lines, or “parentheses, that run from the bottom of your nose to the corner of your mouth (nasolabia folds). Juvéderm® is an injectable gel made up of hyluronic acid, a substance normally found in our skin and muscles that helps to add volume and hydration. Juvéderm® restores the volume creating a smooth, natural, youthful look you once had.

What does JUVÉDERM® do? Juvéderm® is an injectable gel that temporarily adds new volume to sagging skin and to fill in hollow spaces on your face giving you a fuller, smoother, more youthful appearance.

How does JUVÉDERM® work? Juvéderm® is injected into the mid to deep dermis to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. The hyluronic acid, once injected into the skin helps to create new collagen, helping to decrease the appearance of facial wrinkles, and it helps to stop the breakdown of existing collagen.

How is JUVÉDERM® used in treatment? Your cosmetic dermatologist will use a very fine needle to inject the Juvéderm® into the mid to deep dermis of the skin to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.

What are the results of JUVÉDERM® treatment? Juvéderm® will help to smooth the facial skin’s wrinkles and folds while restoring volume for a more youthful appearance. You may achieve optimal results that could last up to one year from your first treatment; however you should consult with your physician as to what you should expect from your first treatment and when you should reschedule your next treatment.

Is treatment with JUVÉDERM® injectable gel painful?
Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. The smooth consistency gel of Juvéderm® allows your doctor to administer it easily and smoothly. And, Juvéderm® is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Your doctor may choose to numb (anesthetize) the treatment area to further minimize discomfort.

How long does treatment usually take?

The injection process takes only about 15 minutes. You'll also need to allow time to consult with your doctor prior to treatment.

Any authorized healthcare professional can administerJuvéderm®injectable gel, but dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists (ear, nose, and throat doctors), or physicians specializing in cosmetic procedures are generally more experienced.
